Sorry about that Victor (not thinking straight). Knowing my predicament, what should I order? the reader only, or should I be ordering the whole package?

-If passphrase is enabled in BIOS setup, the password is additionally encrypted with the TCPA functions - full package needed.
- If not, the password will be revealed by IBMpass. The reader is enough.

If you do not have access to BIOS in user mode, then nobody can tell exactly if you need the full kit or not. Actually, from our experience, it will be more than 50% chances for TCPA encryption.

Hi Victor, I can access the bios in user mode.

If I may post the details here

1. On bootup, I get an Error 0199: System Security - IBM Security password retry count exceeded. Press <F1> to Setup

2. On pressing F1, I am asked to swipe finger to authorize access. Swiping finger brings me to the password prompt

3. If I just press enter (no password), It opens bios setup uitlity in user mode.

Bios Details:

Bios Version 1.29
Bios Date: 2006-08-21
Embedded Controller Version 1.06

Security Details:
Using Passphrase : Disabled
Supervisor Password: Enabled
LOCK BIOS Settings : Disabled
Set Minimum Length: Disabled
Power-On Password: Disabled
Hard Disk1 Password: Disabled
Require Password after hibernate: Disabled

It looks like I only need the reader, but I would like you to confirm first if I am correct.

If this laptop is doable, I would like to order your solution right away. This will be my first time to transact with moneybookers though, so if not via them, i might send my payment by western union.

Thanks for all the help Victor.

Cheers

Hi Victor,

You mentioned that the T43, R53 & T60 do not need to be taken apart when using PC8394T programming tools. Does this mean that the R60, Z60 & X60 do need to be taken apart?

Thanks.

Wrong. You need to build an interface and use the software through it, but not necessary to solder stuffs. T43/p doesn't need to be taken apart as I say.
